On May 14, 2019, Director of the Institute of Soil Science, University of Leibniz (Hannover, Germany), President of the German Soil Scientists Society, Professor Dr. Georg Guggenberger, Coordinator of the International Project «Innovations in the development of methods of sustainable agricultural management in the changing climate in the dry steppes of Kazakhstan and South-West Siberia (ReKKS)» and Shibistova Olga Borisovna (Leibniz Institute of Soil Science, Hannover, Germany) attended to Kostanai State Pedagogical University with official visit.
In the framework of the project SRC PEB KSPU/ ReKKS "Assessment of the impact of land use and climate change on soil invertebrate communities (mesofauna)" refresher course «Current trends in the assessment of global and local changes of natural ecosystems and in the teaching on biological and geographical cycles disciplines» was organized for the department of natural sciences and advanced students, together with the Faculty of Distance and Additional Training. (The course was prepared by a doctor of biological sciences, professor T.M. Bragina, compilers of the program are Prof., Dr. Georg Guggenberger, Prof., Dr. TM Bragina, an acting head of the department of natural sciences, a master of pedagogical education G. K. Baubekova and Senior Lecturer, Master of Biology, M. M. Rulyova).
This course involved two phases - theoretical and practical.
At the first stage, Georg Guggenberger gave lectures in English «Diversity and soil functions. Soil Reaction to Global and Local Environmental Changes». At the lecture were also invited students of 2 and 3 courses of the Department of Natural Sciences in the specialty "Biology".
The lecturer works and studies soils all over the world, at the lecture he spoke about the main factors of soil formation, soil geography and soil composition features in different soil zones of the world. He elaborated on the scientific aspect of the study of the soil, spoke about the research conducted at their institute by staff, PhD students and students, and teaching methods that are using. The next stage will be practical work during the field trip with the participation of professors and teachers and students of the Department of Natural Sciences in the specialties "Biology" and "Geography". An interesting and informative lecture, charm and charisma of the lecturer did not leave the listeners indifferent. Georg Guggenberger and Shibistova Olga Borisovna were asked a variety of questions regarding the lecture, which they gladly answered.
