Regional relay race of the 28th World Winter Universiade 2017

On January 26, 2017 in the city-center of Kostanay there was a regional relay race of the 28th World Winter Universiade 2017, which will be held from January 29 to February 8 in Almaty. Universiade - the international sports competitions among students, conducted by the International Federation of University Sports (FISU). Every two years, summer and winter Universiades are held. The history of student sports began in 1905, when the first international competitions among students were held in the USA. In 1919, Jean Ptizhan created the Confederation of Students. Under the auspices of this organization in 1923, the first World University Games in Paris took place.
60 torchbearers were awarded the right to carry a torch through the streets of Kostanay at a distance of 12 kilometers. The main torchbearer was a graduate of Kostanay state pedagogical institute, Honored Master of Sports of Republic of Kazakhstan, the champion of Asia, the three-time prize-winner of the World Championships and the bronze medalist of the Summer Olympic Games in boxing - Ivan Dychko. About 1000 students of Kostanay State Pedagogical Institute took an active part in the relay race to support our students of athletes who will defend the honor of our country at the Universiade 2017. Two students of our university will take part in the World Winter Universiade on the short track: "Physical Culture and Sports": Tikhonova Olga and Krestova Anastasia. We wish them luck and victories!
