Discussion and intellectual game on the topic "Modern Toponymic Renames: Pros and Cons"

November 30, 2017 at the Department of Natural Sciences, according to the work plan of the local lore club "Sayakhat" under the guidance of teachers, the master of geography Koval V.V., Zagorulko V.V., Zhusupova A.U. held a discussion and intellectual game on "Modern toponymic renaming: the pros and cons." Participants of the debates were students of the 1st and 4th year of the specialization "Geography": Pechorkina Marina, Sarkhanov Vladimir, Abatova Aziza; "Biology": Gadzhieva Sevil, Karpova Karina; "History": Zhanglysh Abylay.
The jury was attended by: Head of the Department of Natural Sciences Ph.D. Ruchkina G.A.; Art. teacher of the Department of Natural Sciences, Master of Pedagogy Baubekova G.K .; Master of Science, Art. teacher A.Kozhmukhametov
The goal of the game is the formation of discussion skills of personal and meta-subject results of education related to communication skills, the development of positive civic values and critical thinking; civil-social education of students, popularization of discussion methods in the institute.
During the discussion and intellectual game participants were divided into two teams - "Refutations" and "Statement", having different views on the topic. The first team of "Statement", acted, bringing positive facts within the theme of the game. The command "Refutation", based on the statements of the first team, was able to find negative features. During the debate, the question of whether it was expedient to rename Lenin's street in Enbek Street was discussed more actively. Both sides, resulted in positive and negative facts of this renaming, what interested the audience. After the end of the debate, the audience took an active part in the discussion, students and teachers expressed their opinion, appreciated the performances of the participants.
As a result of the debate, the jury distributed the participants in the following nominations: in the nomination "The best speaker" won, the fourth-year student of the specialty "History" – Zhanglysh Abylay; in the nomination "The most erudite speaker" was won by the student of the 1st course of the specialty "Geography" -Pechorkina Marina; all participants of the game were awarded with commendable certificates.
The debate showed the high level of students' preparation, their interest, the organization of this event and the willingness of participants to show all the skills that they acquired during their studies. The question was debated, opened, but everyone for himself chose the right attitude.
