Workshop on the topic "New Approaches to Teaching and Learning: Dialogue and Group Learning; teaching critical thinking"

On January 10th , 2018, a workshop "New Approaches in Teaching and Learning: Dialogue and Group Teaching" was organized on the basis of KSPI by Danilova V.V., PhD, senior teacher of foreign languages, Zhusupova D.Zh., senior lecturer of the Department of Arts. This event is devoted to the disclosure of the features of organization of group work and critical thinking on the level program "NIS" - "7 Modules".
This master class consisted of the following phases:
1) Phase "warm-up" - conducting group training on an emotional basis named "Australian rain";
2) The phase of the organization of the role-play "6 hats of thinking" by E.de Bono"- playing the role of reaction to situational situations with the application of the role (six hats - white -"actual", yellow -"positive", green -"creative", red -"emotional", black - "critical", blue - "organizational");
3) Phase of primary reflection of role-play - analysis of participants' behavior during role-play;
4) The phase of the presentation of examples of the development of critical thinking through group work (Method "Alian", the method "Thick/thin questions", "Method of focal objects" M. Kuzmin).
The first phase set up the participants of the event in a positive way, having arranged for joint activities.
The second phase is aimed at developing abilities to respond to the situation from different points of view. Participants were able to demonstrate the flexibility of thinking and imagining when adding the proposed situations of behavior in a public place - a trolleybus.
The phase of primary reflection revealed that all participants coped with the task and showed readiness to maintain the role. The phase of assignments for the development of critical thinking was aimed at the idea that knowledge is the basis of any kind of critical thinking.
In general, the event was of a creative practical nature. Participants of the workshop noted the high level of organization of this work (the method of "reflexive target").
