The third place in the Republican student's Olympiad in English among students of 1 and 2 courses of non-linguistic specialties

On the basis of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Philological Faculty of the Eurasian National University after L.N. Gumilyov (Astana) on the March, 20th, 2018 the Republican Student Olympiad in English was organized among students of 1st and 2nd year of non-linguistic specialties, dedicated to the revival of the spiritual values of the youth of Kazakhstan.
According to the results of the Olympiad, the third place was taken by the second-year student of the specialty "History" - S. Kozhamberdiev with the technical support of the 3rd year student of the specialty "History" - Adyrbaeva Zh.
The Republican Olympiad consisted of two stages - a linguistic one, aimed at meeting the international standard of B1 / B2 level (the head of the linguistic unit – V.V. Danilova, PhD, senior lecturer of the Chair of Foreign Languages, KSPI); and project, revealing the homework of the participants of the Olympiad - a project on the topic "Spiritual revival".
Based on the results of the first round, a comprehensive test for determining the linguistic competence of students of non-linguistic specialties (open tests, multiple choice tests, reading, search types, listening and writing), the student entered the third of the total number of students who passed for the second round.
The second round was a mode of presentation of a homework assignment - a project on the topic of spiritual revival within the framework of the program document "Rukhani zhangyru".
The theme of the project by S.Kozhamberdiev is "Trilingual map of historical monuments of the city of Kostanay on the basis of two-dimensional QR bar code". The scientific adviser of the project is Z.B. Shakhaman, cand.hist.sc., professor, dean of the SHF, KSPI.
The goal of the project is to create a trilingual map of historical monuments of Kostanay on the basis of a 2D QR bar code as the implementation of the first condition of modernization of a new type - preservation of one's own culture and own code through the introduction of research results into the educational process ("Historical Local Studies").
The student demonstrated a map of 47 historical places in Kostanay in three languages, organized a demo session of the motivational game kahoot.it, and presented a promo video of the project.
The project of S.Kozhamberdiev was noted as socially significant, culturally-oriented and motivational by nature.
